Nixie Garden Sculpture
'The Nixie is inspired by a story by the brothers Grimm. This is a 3/4 life sized sculpture originally made in clay, and now cast as an edition. We found a beautiful 19th Century illustration of the Nixie of the Millpond - a water Nymph/Fairy pushing up out of the water. We decided to use this pose for the sculpture. Later, we discovered that an early saxon name from the lady of the lake in Arthurian legen was Nikon. So, it appears that in Ancient History there must be some kind of link to a pre-Christian water Goddess called something like the Nixie or Nikon.
I cast and complete each one myself, and she is cast in cotswold stone with a faux bronze patina. She is weather proof. Hand-case and completed in my Monmouthshire studios.' - Christine, 2017.
