I wanted to make a lion head sculpture that was both strong and powerful but also benign, like Aslan. I'd looked at various lion heads from different historic periods around the world, as getting the final portrayal was very important.
Into my Lion Head sculpture, I have incorporated a classic Roman arch with a semi-sphere deep bowl. There are wall fixings on each, with a standard copper pipe fitting through the mouth of the lion and the bottom of the bowl to circulate the water. The bowl is deep enough to conceal the pump. The water fountain is frost proof and weather proof (it is recommended that if a prolonged period of minus 5 degrees is expected that you take the precaution to drain the bowl of water). The patinas are permanent and colourfast.
